UNAIR and OKU Regency Government Establish Collaboration

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) with Regency Government of Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU), South Sumatra, have made an agreement to collaborate in the implementation of education, research, community service, human resource, and natural resources development. The agreement was signed in the Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday, April 25, 2019 in Plenary Session Room, 3rd Floor of Management Office Building UNAIR.

The meeting was attended by Vice Rector IV of Universitas Airlangga, Junaidi Khotib S.Si., M.Kes., Ph.D., Apt., with other UNAIR leaderships and AM Hanafi, SE., MM as Head of Financial and Asset Management Agency OKU Regency with other officials.

In his remarks, Junaidi welcomed the delegates of OKU Regency government. He hoped that in the future this collaboration can be carried out and followed with other forms of cooperation.

“We hope that this MoU will be followed with various kinds of cooperation that we can implement together,” he said.

Junaidi also explained that higher education institutions have important role as a part of the community. According to him, this established cooperation will bring mutual benefits in the future.

“It has become our obligation and responsibility, to work hand in hand to develop a system of governance both in the center or region. Moreover, the potential and resources possessed by OKU Regency are suitable for scientific development in UNAIR, “he said.

He then talked about strategies that universities should apply. According to him, higher education institution is not only a place for learning and research, but it must have an impact on the economy, progress, and welfare of the community.

“In the past 3 years, PTNBH has changed its old strategy. By providing a lot of benefits to the community and from an economic standpoint we also give an impact on the government. Therefore, UNAIR in addition to cooperating with various parties, also building a corporation that gets support from the government, “he said.

At the beginning of the meeting, Hanafi as the representative of OKU Regency introduced his delegates. He also delivered a remarks from the Regent who could not attend the meeting. From the remarks, Government of OKU Regency greatly appreciated and expressed their gratitude for the collaboration. (*)
