UNAIR NEWS – Three Faculty of Psychology (FPsi) students from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) have made an achievement. This time, it was from 2019 Psychology Fair at Widya Mandala Catholic University, Surabaya. In a competition that was held on 11-13th April 2019, the three students won second place in intervention design category.

Three FPsi students were Shania Surya Kusuma, Laili Faristim Sukma, and Mauliddita Salsabila Azzahra. They managed to win the competition by initiating a career game board (PAPKA).

PAPKA is a board game with a focus on career development for players. It was developed by three FPsi students to overcome the problem of self-development especially on career.

One of the delegates, Laili, said that PAPKA was able to help students who were still confused how to start their careers. The game encourages a person to be able to explore self in depth.

“We replace countries in monopoly game with existing professions,” said Lili. “The unique thing about this game is that the prison section in monopoly is replaced with a seminar,” she added.

Uniquely, PAPKA encourages players to conduct seminars and emphasize communication practice. Communication made by players during seminar is a proof that there is talent from the player.

” PAPKA is not only for students, but also for high school graduates and those who are still confused developing their careers,” she said. “PAPKA is also able to be a medium to share to fellow players so they are not confused anymore expressing their opinions,” she added.

Lili also explained that PAPKA games can be accessed through a barcode scan which will be directly connected to Google drive. The tools needed such as boards and cards can be printed by downloading from Google drive.

Meanwhile, 2019 Psychology Fair competition was attended by delegates from various universities. Lili said that the toughest rival at the competition was Sebelas Maret State University (UNS). She hoped that PAPKA would be useful and widely spread in the community. (*)
