UNAIR Encourages Collaboration through International Nursing Conference

UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Nursing (FKP) Universitas Airlangga hosted 10 th International Nursing Conference (INC) on 6-7, April, 2019, at the Grand Mercure Hotel Surabaya. The conference was titled Tropical Health Coastal Region Development.

The conference was held in collaboration with 8 nursing institutions, Sultan Agung Islamic University, Semarang, Jombang District Government, and Muhammadiyah University Surabaya (UMS), La Trobe University (Australia), Malaya University (Malaysia), National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan) and Edinburgh University (Scotland).

INC is a forum for students, academics, researchers and professionals all over the world from various fields of health sciences and aims to interact and disseminate their research on the latest issues. Collaborative practices between health professionals can improve efficiency and effectiveness health services.

Dr. Abu Bakar, M.Kep., Ns., Sp.Kep.MB., as the chief executive of INC 2019, said that the papers presented in this activity will be submitted to SCOPUS and published in Journal of Nursing and international Journal with ISSN accreditation.

“We have received 333 abstracts for oral and poster presentations coming from various universities and various countries. Furthermore, I would like to announce that the Proceedings of the International Nursing Conference will be submitted to SCOPUS. The selected papers will be submitted in the Journal Ners and continued to ISSN online, “he said.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Nursalam, M.Nurs (Hons), as Dean of FKp UNAIR, in his speech explained that with Universitas Airlangga’s vision to achieve Top 500 World Class University, FKp UNAIR participated actively to achieve it.

“To achieve World Class University (WCU) rankings, it needs to meet the standards of world top universities such as academic reputation, publications, faculty standard ratios, and international student exchanges. The international nursing conference is also one of several strategies that have been implemented by FKp to improve publication standards,” he explained.

The INC topics presented at conference included; Health and Public Policy, Epidemiology, Nutrition and Food Health, Medical Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacological Aspects and Treatments, Tropical Diseases, Health Law and Policy.

Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto DEA, Drh, as Director of Academic Affairs at UNAIR hoped that the conference can answer global challenges regarding universities, institutions, organizations of higher education in order to contribute to medical, health, and global policy issues that have emerged for years.

“Through the conference, I hope it will not only provide insight to all parties, but there will be collaboration to support the development of medical and health sciences, in order to answer the challenges of medical and health problems,” said Prof. Bambang.

The conference invited more than 100 scholars including academics, researchers, and professionals from all over the world to share ideas, thoughts, and research to strengthen academic and research collaboration through conferences. Universitas Airlangga hoped that the collaboration will continue to run smoothly and bring success. (*)
