UNAIR NEWS – Halal Center Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held another national seminar on Saturday, March 30, 2019. The seminar was held at 4th Floor Amerta Hall of UNAIR Management Office. The seminar discussed the preparation concept of Halal Product Guarantee Law (JPH Law) implementation and a review of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM).
The seminar participants were from many circles such as UMKM representatives in East Java, universities, Indonesian Halal Auditors, students, and the general public.
Chairperson of the event committee dr. Alfian Nur Rosyid, Sp P, FAPSR said that the second national seminar was intended to provide understanding to the community about lifestyle, implementation of Law No. 33 of 2014 concerning Guaranteed Halal Products, benefits of progression, as well as concepts of obstacles and opportunities that can be used by Indonesian people.
The material for implementing JPH Law was delivered by Prof. Ir. Sukoso, M.Sc, Ph.D as Head of Halal Product Guarantee Agency, Ustadz Ainul Yaqin M.Si., Apt as Secretary of the East Java MUI, Dr. H. Mustofa Helmi Effendi DTAPH., drh. as Head of UNAIR Halal Center, and Dr. H. Ikhsan Abdullah S.H M.H as Director of Indonesia Halal Watch.
The challenges in implementing halal products come from halal auditors who have the ability to conduct product halal checks. In fact, in 2023, Indonesia needs 25,000 halal auditors to assist and facilitate UMKMs that are growing rapidly.
“It is the universities that are best prepared to become halal auditors and are related to halal,” said Sukoso, Head of Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH).
The application of halal products, continued Sukoso, is not just about Indonesia. Because our society has faced a competitive economy such as in ASEAN region. According to him, Indonesia is still far behind Malaysia.
“For this reason, it has become our compromise in implementing the guarantee of halal products, especially for UMKM. We will strengthen it because they are the backbone of the Indonesian economy, “he added.
Not only a seminar, in the forum UNAIR Vice Rector III, Prof. Ir. Moch. Amin Alamsyah M.Sc., Ph.D., also inaugurates Halal Green Card for the development of Halalan Toyyiban canteen . Halal Green Card is a form of a campus ecosystem development check based on the concept Halalan Toyyiban. Halal products are not limited to food, but also various basic needs, educational facilities and infrastructure, financial management, health facilities, human resources, and governance. (*)
