Joining Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Faculty of Nursing Holds Meeting with 12 International Partners

UNAIR NEWS – The largest educational exhibition in Asia-Pacific region has really been utilized by Faculty of Nursing Universitas Airlangga to collaborate with potential partners from various countries. In the education exhibition, Asia-Pacific Association for International Education Conference and Exhibition (APAIE) 2019, the delegation of Faculty of Nursing managed to attract at least 12 universities from various countries discussing the potential collaboration.

The event took place on Tuesday to Thursday, March 26-28 2019 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia. There was faculty ambassadors for Faculty of Nursing UNAIR, Setho Hadisuyatamana, S. Kep., Ns., M.NS, (Comm Health & PC).

Setho said that 11 potential partners who had held joint meetings were from Kaoshiung Medical University, Taiwan; Universitas Putra Malaysia; Sechenov University, Russia; Windesheim University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Flinders University, Fontys International Business School, University of Malaya, University of Oslo, Kyungpook National University, Ho Chi Minh City International University, and La Trobe University.

In the meeting, there were several topics discussed. Starting from research collaboration offers, student and staff mobility, and student exchange.

“The most popular program was AMERTA (Academic Mobility for Undergraduate at Airlangga, ed).” said Setho.

Through AMERTA program, international students can study in UNAIR by taking certain courses and transfer credit to their campus. Moreover, there will be no tuition fee for international student and they will get living expenses in Surabaya.

In addition to introducing UNAIR program in general, Setho also introduced the program of Faculty of Nursing, International Student Forum. The program facilitates students in health sector to join seminars of future health perspective.

After the strategic meeting with 11 partners, the communication will continue between two parties. In order, programs that have been discussed together can be realized immediately.

While for partners who have already collaborated before, communication will continue to be carried out for further collaboration.

Until 2019, Faculty of Nursing UNAIR has collaborated with dozens of international universities. Among them were from Ireland, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan.

“Later, there will be disaster studies in Japan for UNAIR nursing students.” explained Setho about Faculty of Nursing who will send their students to Japanese Red Cross in Kyushu International College of Nursing.

Setho added, there were quite a lot of Nursing Faculty students who were interested in studying abroad. Through participating in APAIE, hopefully new partners can facilitate UNAIR students who want to study abroad. Furthermore, international students can learn in UNAIR.

“Second, the development of networks between faculties and universities especially will uplift university quality, and community service. It will boost UNAIR’s ranking in international realm. This (collaboration, ed) can also facilitate lecturers who want to study abroad.” Setho explained. (*)
