Visiting UNAIR, Pakistan Ambassador to Indonesia Establishes Cooperation

UNAIR NEWS – Pakistan Ambassador to Indonesia H.E Abdul Salik Khan visited Universitas Airlangga on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. The working visit that took place in rector’s room was in the framework of establishing cooperation between the two parties.

The arrival of H. Abdul Salik Khan with the delegation from Pakistan embassy was welcomed by UNAIR Vice Rector I Prof. Djoko Santoso, Vice Rector III Prof. Amin Alamsjah, Airlangga Global Engagement’s team and several faculty leaders.

During the visit, H.E Abdul Salik Khan said that he was impressed with Universitas Airlangga. He also expressed his pride because there were 10 students from Pakistan who were accepted in UNAIR for postgraduate and doctoral programs.

“I hope this cooperation will continue. We also have signed an MoU between Universitas Airlangga and several universities in Pakistan.” He explained regarding to the collaboration between UNAIR and Pakistan Government.

Abdul Salik Khan said currently the focus of this cooperation that being developed by Pakistan Government were in the fields of medicine, social sciences, natural sciences, public health, and other fields.

“Pakistan being the second largest Muslim population country and Indonesia as the largest Muslim population country in the world. There is a good scope between these two countries, “he explained.

In addition, there was also Pakistan Reading Corner inauguration in UNAIR. H.E Abdul Salik Khan said that it was established by Pakistan Embassy and this corner will provide various books and reading materials related to Pakistan cultures.

Pakistan Reading Corner will provide basic information about Pakistan such as the history of Pakistan, the relations between Pakistan and Indonesia, and several scope for expanding cooperation in other fields between the two parties.

“Thus, you can gain insight about Pakistan through books. We will provide information to Universitas Airlangga students to find out more about Pakistan, “he added.

Aside with UNAIR, H. Abdul Salik Khan said that Pakistan Goverment also working along with other universities in Indonesia.

“We are seriously working to develop scientific and technological cooperation between Indonesia and Pakistan. These two countries are OIC members and Pakistan has a secretary in Islamabad. Through this institution we can build cooperation between these two countries.” he explained.

Meanwhile, Vice Rector I Prof. Djoko Santoso said that it was a good opportunity in the terms of establishing Indonesia through cooperation. The cooperation that will be developed in the future are in the fields of Tri Darma of Higher Education, both in education, research and community service.

“This is a golden opportunity to communicate with international world.” said Prof. Djoko.

“With this collaboration, we hope that it will give benefits, especially between UNAIR and universities in Pakistan,” he added. (*)
