Faculty of Nursing Receives Student Exchange from University of Malaya

UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Nursing (FKp) of Universitas Airlangga has collaborated with University of Malaya for a while. This time, FKp received exchange students and staff from nursing program, University of Malaya. They sent two lecturers and five students.

The seven delegates from University of Malaya have been in Universitas Airlangga since Sunday, 11 November. On  Friday, 16 November there was a farewell reception for student exchange inbound program as the peak event on Faculty of Nursing. On that occasion, delegates presented their result while they were in Surabaya.

Vice Dean III for Research, Publication, Community Service and Cooperation FKp Dr. Ah. Yusuf, S.Kp., M.Kes said this student exchange was carried out as mobilization program and sharing lecture material to students and the lecturers gave material to UNAIR students.

In addition, University of Malaya delegation was also invited to field trips around Surabaya, such as health museum on campus A UNAIR, Surabaya Carnival, and Kenjeran Health Center.

In this collaboration, Dean of FKp Prof. Dr. Nursalam, M.Nurs (Hons) said there were two schemes, lecturer and student category, and adjunct professors for publication collaboration.

“So, it was prepared for Scopus journals. Previously there were three scientific articles submitted already. Hopefully, seven scientific articles can be submitted into indexed journal on Scopus, ” explained Prof. Nursalam.

Meanwhile, master student representative of University of Malaya, Zulaida bin Mambashalih admitted that she was happy attending student exchange program in UNAIR. In this event, she met UNAIR Rector, carried out lab visit skills for the first time, involved in student organizations, and also met with ambassadors.

She also had a discussion with Vice Dean, visited hospital, Anthropology Museum FISIP UNAIR, Medical Education Museum, and also had opportunity to promote health program with the themed “Love your heart”.

“All elderly people there were happy (during their visit to Retirement Home, Griya Wreda Surabaya, ed). Followed by cooking class at FKp, we made klepon. In Malaysia, we called it onde-onde. It’s delicious and we really like it, ” said Zulaida.

At the end of the day, Zulaida shared her impression about Universitas Airlangga.

“This is the first time I joined a student mobility. It’s amazing to learn and get something that can be developed later. Moreover, it provides an opportunity to learn traditional music, visit health center. I really enjoyed academic session “said Zulaida. “Finally, I want to thank UNAIR for giving this opportunity with a memorable experience,” she added.

Later, student exchange participants performed Malaysian dance, sang together, gave awards and gift. (*)
