OJK Collaborates with UNAIR Educating Society on Financial Services

UNAIR NEWS – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) in cooperation with the East Java Regional Financial Services Institute Communication Forum (FK-LJKD) held a Literacy and Inclusion Training (PETIK) at Universitas Airlangga. The training for participants from state and private universities (PTN) throughout East Java took place on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Airlangga Convention Center (ACC) UNAIR.

The training was a joint synergy between academics and FK-LJKD in an effort to improve literacy and financial inclusion of the community in realizing East Java to be well finance literate. In addition to training, synergy is realized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UNAIR and East Java Financial Services Institutions (LJK).

With the MoU, LJK can include students in training, literacy and financial inclusion activities in the community segment, and the student participation can be counted as academic activities. Besides, through the MoU, LJK is also willing to be a guest speaker if needed by UNAIR.

For this cooperation, East Java Regional OJK Head Heru Cahyono said that his party wanted students, especially UNAIR’s, to become ambassadors of financial literacy. The aim is to be able to convey knowledge about the financial services industry to a wider community.

“We are committed to helping students understand and share knowledge about the financial services industry. We hope students’ support they have high intellect and idealism, they can deliver the financial services industry to a wider community, “Heru said.

Heru revealed that the financial PETIK event at UNAIR was the culmination of a financial inclusive month event by the OJK and FK-LJKD. Beside UNAIR, the universities that participated in the collaboration were Nahdlatul Ulama University Surabaya, Muhammadiyah University of Malang, Kediri University, and Jember State University. (*)
