UNAIR NEWS – A total of 52 Universitas Airlangga students successfully passed the 2021 Indonesian International Mobility Awards (IISMA) program organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti) Kemendikbudristek.

Iman Haryawan SE., MBA.Ph.D. as the head of Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) UNAIR said that the IISMA program gave students the option to excel and have the experience to study abroad.

“It is an interesting event as it can give students an option to excel and gain experience to study abroad. They can also get a lot of knowledge because of the excellent courses,” he said on Tuesday afternoon, June 15, 2021.

52 UNAIR students passing the program came from several faculties. 17 students are from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), nine students from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), three students from the Faculty of Law (FH), five students from the Faculty of Humanities (FIB), two students from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH), three students from the Faculty of Medicine (FK), one student from the Faculty of Public Health (FKM), five students from the Faculty of Psychology (FPsi), and seven students from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST).

The students will study at various universities abroad. There are 31 universities: Abu Dhabi University, Korea University, KU Leuven, Maastricht University, Michigan State University, Nanyang Technological University, National Taiwan University, National University of Ireland, Prince of Songkla University, RUDN University, Sapienza University of Rome.

The University of Edinburgh, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, University of California, University of Glasgow, University of Granada, University of Leicester, University of Limerick, University of Padua, University of Pecs, University of Pennsylvania, University of Strathclyde, University of Sussex, University of Szeged, University of Twente, University of Warsaw, University of York, and Yonsei University.

The students, explained Iman, will take part in IISMA 2021 activities for one semester or six months, starting from September 2021. During that period, they will take four courses at the thirty-one partner universities.

Iman said that even though the activity was carried out for the first time during the pandemic, the students still show great enthusiasm because the Minister of Education and Culture is very active in preparing for departures, quarantines, and visas.

“Because everything is fully covered from Dikti and they (Kemendikbudristek, ed) are very helpful in the preparations. I think there is a great likelihood that students will go as planned, “he added.

With the 2021 IISMA, Iman hoped that next year UNAIR can participate with more students. Because in the future, the quota will be 10 times more with a total of ten thousand. “Therefore, students can also come prepared better,” he concluded. (*)
