UNAIR NEWS – Real internalization efforts from a taskforce team of History Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Airlangga (FIB UNAIR) have come into fruition. One of the five study programs submitted by UNAIR, History Study Program passed for the second selection stage (visitation stage) for the Independent Campus Competition Program. (PK-KM).

Previously, the History Study Program has made some achievements. One of them is getting an A accreditation score twice in a row from BAN-PT. Several years ago, the History Study Program also received SP4 and PHKI grants. At the faculty level, the History Study Program is awarded annually as the best study program.

Dr. Sarkawi B. Husain, SS, M. Hum as the Head of History Study Program expressed his gratitude to the rector for the trust given to become one of the five study programs asked to take part in the Independent Campus Competition Program. (PK-KM).

“The support of all parties means a lot to us so that the History Study Program can pass to the second selection stage (visitation),” he said.

Sarkawi said that for the PKKM assesment process, the study program submitted a proposal in accordance with the guidelines set in the PKKM grant guide book. The proposal was then compiled by the central committee, in this case, UNAIR Rector, then sent to the Ministry of Education and Culture to be assessed by a team of reviewers.

“Exactly on April 22, 2021, the History Study Program has been visited and received many suggestions and inputs to improve the proposal. We are currently waiting for the final assessment results of the proposals that we have revised based on suggestions from central reviewers and internal reviewers of Universitas Airlangga,” he explained.

Since the History Study Program was chosen to be one of the study programs that will take part in the PKKM program, as the head of the study program, Sarkawi immediately took real steps by holding meetings and forming a taskforce team. This taskforce team prepared and compiled a proposal for the PKKM.

“We held a lot of discussions both at the study program level and with the university so that the proposals we submitted were in accordance with the provisions set in the PKKM guidebook,” said Sarkawi.

One of the Independent Campus programs that will be realized later is the development of innovative learning with problem-based learning (PBL) method by utilizing sites of the Kingdom of Airlangga and other archaeological sites. The realization of its activities includes workshops on the use of archaeological sites for the development of innovative and creative learning, workshops on module development related to King Airlangga sites, development of digital learning media resources, and student apprenticeships.

In the future, Sarkawi will make efforts for History Study Program, FIB UNAIR. First, to ensure that the teaching and learning process at the study program level runs well so that even though it is still in a pandemic period, the rights of students to obtain knowledge are still not neglected. Second, make every effort so that the targets set by the Rector through the FIB dean to the History Study Program can be carried out well.

“Finally, make some steps and strategies so that all work programs prepared by the study program, including with successful PKKM funding campaign, run well,” he concluded. (*)
