UNAIR NEWS – Master program of Human Resources Development (S2 PSDM), together with the Association of Postgraduate School Students (HIMASEPA), Universitas Airlangga held International Webinar HR 24/7 Program on Thursday, June 11. The topic for this Covid-19 webinar: HR won’t Get Back to Normal Because Normal Was The Problem.
“We (the organizer of the program, ed) raised this topic because there are positive things that can be learned during the pandemic situations, especially by people in the field of human resources (HR),” said Rizki Priyoko
Rizki explained that one of the positive things during this pandemic is the quality of human resources life, especially family time. Besides that, we live in a modern era that networking and globalization become more efficient.
On that occasion, the organizer presented three foreign speakers: Aleida Diaz, Fransisco Canales, and Maambo Muzeya.
The webinar was opened by Aleida, an alumnus of Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador, about developments in the HR sector from year to year. “Today, we are in the digital age, where the opportunity to study is wide open. There are three keys: creativity, passion, and commitment, ” he explained.
Furthermore, he delivered ten tips for human resources: diversity, recognize objectives, empower workers, eager learn, good leader figure, brave to share their opinions, freely choose, committed, and be happy.
Aside from the HR aspect, the pandemic is considered to bring a positive impact on the environment. It was in Fransisco’s second session. “During a pandemic, reductions in carbon emissions, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide have been reduced because people in different countries spend their time at home, so they rarely use transportation,” he explained.
He added that the pandemic also has an impact on the animals. In his country, some Puma’s were seen wandering around downtown Santiago.
The webinar was closed by a presentation from Maambo, who works as HR at Mulungushi University, Zambia. Broadly, he posited about the impact of international relations after the corona-virus pandemic currently engulfed the entire state.
“Several challenges that may be faced in the future is the emergence of poverty from diseases or outbreaks such as malaria, Ebola, HIV/AIDS, clean water supply, and climate change,” explained Maambo.
Moreover, the webinar managed to attract up to 2550 people and attended by 969 participants. According to the faculty brand ambassador, Prof. Dr. Maslichah Mafruchati, Drh., M.Si., the webinar event is an excellent achievement.
“All graduate students have extensive insight and network. They implemented their capability for scientific activities. As an ambassador, I will support this kind of scientific activity that is internationally insightful, “he explained.
Prof. Maslichah,said that the activity also received a warm welcome from one of the senior lecturers, Prof. Dr. Suryanto, M.Si., Psikolog. “Amazing, the event can bring foreign speakers and 1000 participants,” he said.
Lecturers who have been teaching in PSDM School of UNAIR graduate schools since 2002 delivered a message to anticipate the various challenges. He also hopes this webinar activity can add insight, networking, and develop human resources. (*)
