To Bangladesh, Puspas Accompany Students Discuss Yunus Center’s Establishment

UNAIR NEWS – The Center for Fund and Social Management (Puspas) of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) had two main agenda during its visitation to Bangladesh. The visitation started from July 12-22.

The first agenda was to accompany students who took part in International Social Business Summer Program (ISBSP) at Daffodil International University. Furthermore, they discussed cooperation in developing a social platform business in Indonesia with Prof. Yunus.

Secretary of Puspas Dr. Wisudanto SE., MM, CFP, ASPM stated for ten days in Bangladesh, Puspas had met several agencies. Among other things, Yunus Center, Social Business Industrial Park, Grameen Bank Branch Office, Grameen Danone Food Ltd, Grameen Textile Factory, and Grameen Caledonian College of Nursing.

“We also visited Bangabandhu Museum and Jatiya Sangshad Bhaban (National Parliament, ed) together with students,” said Dr. Wisudanto.

During the visitation, Dr. Wisudanto explained the history and the application of social business in Bangladesh. There was also a discussion in accordance with the culture and conditions between both of these countries.

Dr. Wisudanto said the benefits for UNAIR is students can learn directly from Prof. Yunus, the first Nobel recipient of social business in the world from Bangladesh.

“The second benefit is that we (UNAIR, ed) can build a good relationship with outside parties in similar fields. Such as Iran and Bangladesh, ” Wisudanto explained.

In fact, Wisudanto said through the program; it will be able to bring UNAIR towards World Class University. Besides, there was a discussion on the establishment of Yunus Center in UNAIR, which certainly became an added value for university at the international level.

Finally, Dr. Wisudanto hopes Universitas Airlangga can become a partner for social business development in accordance with Indonesia’s socio-economic conditions, so there will be an improvement in the communities quality of life.

“That’s my biggest dream,” he concluded. *
