NEWS UNAIR – In order to improve the skill of leadership, BEM UNAIR officials, especially the Daily Management Board (BPH) along with two other ministries, the Ministry of External Relations and the Ministry of Science held Airlangga Mobility 2018. The activity held at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) was held in the middle of last November.

In collaboration with the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Institute for Leadership Innovation and Advancement (ILIA), at least 19 delegates sent there to strengthen the skill of leadership. In the inaugural activity conducted by BEM UNAIR, all delegations had the opportunity to get a public lecture from the University of Brunei Darussalam, with two main materials, An Analysis of Employee Involvement and participation in undeveloped voice landscape and Defining and Understanding Leadership.

Followed by a workshop with material on Buliding Team Effectiveness. Then, the following day a campus tour was held to the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Library, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and ended at the Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Advancement (ILIA).

Other experience during their stay in Brunei, according to Fairuz Zuhir as Vice President of BEM UNAIR, were enough to make them learn about hospitality and courtesy. They learned science of self control which is part of the self leadership.

“Motorists always prioritize road safety. They let the pedestrians cross first. According to him, this condition is in contrast to what happens in Indonesia, it is the most unsafe place for pedestrians, especially passerby against motorists who do not want to put others’ first,” he explained.

Having the opportunity to be UNAIR delegation studying leadership in the second developed country in Southeast Asia after Singapore, Fairuz hopes that there will be mutual exchange of knowledge to students in UNAIR.

“So UNAIR can produce leaders who have leadership skills with future global insights,” he added.

With all the potential and culture possessed by every UNAIR student, especially the Student Organization in it, it is very possible for UNAIR to be able to develop more rapidly. UNAIR students, Fairuz added, must be more active in publishing their works and take more roles in every international event.
