UNAIR NEWS – Taiwan Education Fair was held on Monday, October 22 on the 1st Floor Hall, Universitas Airlangga Management Office. The exhibition provides information about college education as well as S1 to S3 scholarships in Taiwan directly from Taiwanese university representatives.
Several well-known universities also showcased their programs. This is supported by the education system in Taiwan which continues to improve, especially in the field of information technology, electronic and medical industries.
Quoted from Taiwan Today Indonesia published June 21, 2018, the survey result showed that Taiwan is ranked in the top 3 in the 5 indicators of 2018 digital competitiveness according to the International Institute for Management Development (IMD). Some of these indicators, among others, are the average number of professionals in the field of research and technology, student performance in the field of mathematics education, and others.
In a blog post written by Shanty Tindason on January 16, 2016, it was explained that Taiwan, which is labeled as a developed country was ranked 17 for research publications in the Science Citation Index (SCI) and ranked 15th in the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI). Taiwan is ranked 9th in the Elsevier Engineering Information (EI).
Interestingly, Taiwan has the largest engineering database in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Competitiveness report .
Medical field studies is also good as Taiwan is famous for medical tourism where there are 14 Taiwanese hospitals included in 200 best hospitals in the world based on Documentary National Discovery Channel. Taiwan is also ranked third for best medical service category in the world. Some universities providing medical lectures are National Yang-Ming University, Taipei Medical University, Fu Jen Catholic University, and others.
Then, how do you study in Taiwan? UNAIR has been working with the Taiwan Government to offer many scholarship programs. These programs depend on their respective universities.
Students must measure and weigh which institution is suitable for them. The students at least know the area’s intended culture to avoid culture shock, information about desired university from the number of faculties and departments, to career guidance and internships, as well as the language used in the department. Most of them have shown the use of language in universities.
Furthermore, looking for work is guaranteed to be easy. It is very common for students to work part time.
There are many minimarkets, restaurants, or cafes that open jobs for students. Therefore, students need not be afraid of the cost of living. Students can also learn Taiwanese through scholarship programs or taking courses.
No wonder, Taiwan can be a solutive step to continue education studies. The small, charming island nation has an extraordinary tourism appeal.
Taiwan has 276 mountain destinations with altitudes more than 3,000 meters above sea level. Taiwan is known as the kingdom of butterflies where as many as 400 species of butterflies live there. There is also Taipei 101 Tower which is called the second highest tower in the world after Burj Khalifa and there are religious tourism spots such as Taipei Grand Mosque and many more. (*)
