UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) alumni gathered online to witness the Inauguration of the United States Branch of Alumni Association (IKA). The event on Sunday, December 19, received a positive response from Dra. Hj. Khofifah Indar Parawansa, M.Si. as the General Chairperson of IKA UNAIR.
In her speech, Khofifah thanked the United States coordinator for consolidating UNAIR alumni in the US. She feels that the alumni association is one of the factors that improve UNAIR’s global visibility. “This network will become more and more important every day, especially with UNAIR’s increasing contributions to the world, such as Merah Putih vaccine,” she said.
It is known that the Faculty of Medicine (FK) UNAIR is the fastest institution out of the six institutions in completing pre-clinical trials. The Merah Putih vaccine is undergoing a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) process and several other stages before it can be distributed worldwide. “After going through several processes and approved by WHO, Merah Putih vaccine will provide not only a good effect on Indonesia but also the world,” she explained.
The UNAIR Political Science alumna who now serves as the Governor of East Java said that the connection between UNAIR and alumni is important. “So with something that can be deemed prestigious, supports from UNAIR alumni are needed, both from within and outside the country,” she said.
She hoped that the inauguration of the United States Branch of the International IKA Management Committee would improve the presence and connections of the Airlangga Knights wherever they are. “Hopefully, by connecting UNAIR alumni, especially in various international communities, they can introduce UNAIR’s strategic programs to the world,” she explained.
Finally, the General Chairperson of IKA UNAIR for the 2021-2025 period fully supports the collaboration and synergy between the United States IKA UNAIR team and domestic IKA UNAIR. “Thank you for all the spirit of togetherness and space to increase productivity according to our profession and passion. Congratulations to the entire United States IKA UNAIR Management team,” she concluded. (*)
