UNAIR NEWS – The pandemic has shifted and remodeled the world economy, especially the world of tourism. Although it is quite affected by the pandemic, the tourism sector is still one sector expected to boost the economy again after the pandemic.

In this regard, the Institute of Social Sciences, Humanities and Business (LISHB) Universitas Airlangga held a National Seminar entitled “Jatim Rises after Covid-19 Pandemic towards Golden Indonesia 2045”. The event was held offline at Hotel Bumi Surabaya and online on Thursday, October 28, 2021. It targeted OPD, economic observers, tourism observers, UMKM (Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises) observers, students, and the general public.

On that occasion, the Head of LISHB, Prof. Dr. Mustain Mashud, M.Si., said that the activity was the result of studies in several places in East Java to improve the economy. The research results, he continued, can be used as the basis for policymaking and implemented in the field.

“UNAIR continues to support research efforts whose outputs can be directly implemented in the field. One of them is research conducted by LISHB UNAIR. Thus, the right policies and steps can strengthen the East Java economy after the pandemic,” he said.

Furthermore, on the Governor of East Java’s behalf, the Head of the East Java Provincial Office, Dr. Ir. Wahid Wahyudi M.T., in his opening remarks, Wahid said that the handling of Covid in East Java was among the best efforts made by several provinces in Indonesia.

“Thanks to this good result, we can again carry out activities as usual but still adhere to health protocols strictly,” he said.

Wahid also said that the topic of the seminar held by LISHB UNAIR was a moment to explore Indonesia’s extraordinary potential further. Abundant natural resources are still constrained by the quality of technology and human resources.

“Therefore, efforts to increase human resources in Indonesia have begun to be improved with a budget focus on the education sector. Because superior human resources are needed towards advancement,” he explained. “That’s why this research conducted by LISHB UNAIR can provide the right recommendations for economic strengthening towards a golden Indonesia 2045,” he concluded.
