UNAIR NEWS – The lack of material on entrepreneurship and leadership in courses makes students who want to start a business feel limited. Therefore, the Student Executive Board (BEM) UNAIR held Airlangga Creative Festival with a keynote speech by Dr. H. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, BBA, MBA, on Saturday, August 21, 2021.
“I am proud that the Airlangga Creative Festival is packaged in the form of a bazaar and webinars. So students can learn by doing,” said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf).
Sandiaga also boosted UNAIR students’ morale to continue and develop entrepreneurial insights. The minister has three keys to success in the era of adapting new habits, Gercep (fast action), Geber (joint movement), Gaspol (work on all potential employment opportunities).
Furthermore, Sandiaga delegated a material on the role of youth generation in the recovery of tourism and the creative economy during the pandemic through the Deputy of Marketing for Baparekraf, Nia Niscaya.
Nia explained that the Tourism and Creative Economy industry plays an essential role in restoring the pandemic condition in terms of tourism. “No matter how good the destination, people will think about the health protocols, how clean it is. Only then they dare to visit it,” explained Nia.
Nia emphasized that during the pandemic, the tourism sector is required to implement the Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environment (CHSE) protocol. Another step in tourism recovery is to intensify the tagline #DiIndonesiaAja.
It was found that Nia has a sense of moral responsibility as an alumnus; she encouraged students to follow Instagram account of @kemenparekraf.ri and pesonaid_travel so they can get much information about programs for students.
Parekraf is also running several programs to increase the number of Creative Economy MSMEs onboarding the digital marketplace. By having data on MSME practitioners, the ministry can start their Training, Consulting, Mentoring, and Coaching program to properly run their marketing.
The webinar also revealed new job opportunities and demographic bonuses, including digital-based businesses, the creative economic industry, and freelancer opportunities.
Nia, an alumnus of the UNAIR Faculty of Law, also boosted the spirit of her juniors to start a business amid pandemic.
“You have a good place to learn, in UNAIR, it is unfortunate if you did not use and you did not want to grow, so let us learn and grow beyond our limit,” added Nia. (*)
