UNAIR NEWS – Resume or curriculum vitae (CV) is undeniably has become an essential aspect in applying for jobs. Therefore, the Directorate for Career Development, Incubation, Entrepreneurship, and Alumni Affairs (DPKKA) Universitas Airlangga collaborated with career accelerator company Kinobi on Thursday, February 10, 2022.

On that occasion, DPKKA held a webinar, How to Level Up Your CV in Kinobi Way. The speaker was the Head of Bussiness Development of Kinobi Ken Mahendra Basoeki. Ken came sharing secrets and tips on writing a good CV a la Kinobi.

Ken mentioned that a CV contains a career summary that generally begins from university. Furthermore, various information should not be listed on the CV.

The information includes legal documents such as a full address, ID number, or date of birth. Portfolio documents and detailed information about private life are also unnecessary to be listed on the CV.

Ken emphasized that a CV must be straightforward and clear because that resume will be the first impression to Human Resources (HR) during the selection process. Moreover, Ken mentioned that the CV must go through three steps before getting to the interview offering stage.

“When we send it, our CV will enter ATS (applicant tracking system, ed) selection process, and then it will be read by HR for 5-10 seconds. Usually, only 25 percent of CVs will be selected from all applicants,” he revealed.

Therefore, there are various tips Ken shared with the webinar participants. First, the CV must be ATS friendly by adjusting the contents of the CV to the qualifications sought by the company. Second, the CV must be easy to read and no more than one page unless the applicant had work experience for 10 years or more.

“Lastly, avoid error or writing error. Because CV is also a part of the sign that portrayed our professionalism,” he added.

After the presentation, Ken invited 190 webinar participants to visit the Kinobi app that offers a complete guide and formats to create an ATS-friendly CV.

This webinar has been one of DPKKA UNAIR’s routine agenda held for free. In the opening speech, Head of Sub-directorate (Kasubdit) DPKKA Lastiko Endi Rahmantyo mentioned that this webinar prepares students going into the professional society. (*)
