UNAIR NEWS – The ceremony marking the clinical trial of the Red and White Vaccine was officially held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. On the occasion, Rector of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak expressed his deep gratitude to all parties who contributed to developing the national vaccine product.
Prof. Nasih revealed that the Red and White Vaccine had been projected as a national pride vaccine product that is halal certified. The Red and White Vaccine received a halal certificate from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).
“This vaccine will be the first with halal certification. The halal certificate will be valid until February 6, 2026,” explained Prof. Nasih.
Furthermore, Prof. Nasih also mentioned that although it is ready to be clinically tested in stages I and II, he ensured that the Red and White Vaccine journey would be very steep until it gets a distribution permit.
“We need cooperation from all parties. Therefore, we expect support and cooperation to be continued so that this vaccine can contribute to the Covid-19 pandemic handling,” he explained.
In the development process, the Red and White vaccine results from collaboration from various parties. Not only UNAIR but also the Ministry of the Health Republic of Indonesia (RI), RSUD Dr. Soetomo, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Drug and Food Monitoring Agency (BPOM), Biotis.
“These various collaborations and contributions we made at UNAIR are sincerely for progress and humanity. In accordance with the determination to contribute significantly at the local, national, and global levels,” he said.
On the occasion, Prof. Nasih specifically expressed his gratitude for the support from the attending guests, from the Director of RSUD Dr. Soetomo Dr. Joni Wahyuhadi, dr SpBS(K), Governor of East Java Dra Hj Khofifah Indar Parawansa Msi, Minister of Health RI Ir Budi Sadikin, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Menko PMK) RI Prof. Dr Muhadjir Effendy MAP.
