UNAIR NEWS – The Social Fund Management Center of Universitas Airlangga (PUSPAS UNAIR) collaborated with Bank CIMB Niaga Syariah to distribute equal educational funds for students with special needs. They also collaborated with the Directorate of Academic Affairs, Universitas Airlangga. The educational funds were distributed on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

“We will distribute this educational fund or scholarship to 10 students with limited physical conditions,” said the Secretary of the Directorate of Academic Affairs UNAIR, Syahrur Marta Dwisusilo, S.S., M.A., Ph.D.

“Students with physical limitations are also excellent, so the funds will also be used to support their education,” he added.

One of the outstanding students with special needs is Huriyah Dhawy Febrianti, a student of the Faculty of Humanities (FIB UNAIR), Indonesian Language and Literature Department. “One of the beneficiaries is Dhawy. She is one of the students with special needs who managed to write three novels,” said Syahrur.

Dhawy’s first literary work got to be published when she participated in a writing parade. “The novel that I wrote were young-adult themed and fiction stories which contained mental health issues and criticisms of parenting issues,” she explained when asked about the contents of the novels she wrote.

“In every novel that I write, I always try to include criticism in it even though the discussion is light. I would like to thank PUSPAS UNAIR for providing educational funding scholarships. In the future, hopefully, this assistance will help improve my academics and literary work,” continued the outstanding student.

Previously, PUSPAS UNAIR also collaborated with the Directorate of Academic Affairs in distributing medical equipment assistance to people with disabilities. Therefore, the Directorate of Academic Affairs hoped that this kind of cooperation could be maintained.

“We support this kind of program and assistance. We express our gratitude to PUSPAS UNAIR for helping Universitas Airlangga’s students with special needs,” said Syahrur.

“In the future, we will be more aware of students with special needs so that education can be open to anyone in Indonesia. Thank you to those who have helped these students with special needs because they also have the same rights,” added Dr. Wisudanto, S.E., M.M, CFP, ASPM. as the Head of PUSPAS UNAIR.

With the support of education funds, PUSPAS UNAIR, Bank CIMB Niaga Syariah, and of course the Directorate of Academic Affairs UNAIR hoped that the program could help bear the golden generation through education.

Meanwhile, Arjo Laksono, as the Branch Head of the CIMB Niaga Syariah said that Islamic banking has missions, one of which is to provide social performance to anyone in need. One way to do this is through collaboration with campuses.

“We share happiness through the provision of education funds. We hope to be a part of the beneficiaries’ happiness. Thank God, we have PUSPAS as our partner to share happiness with students with special needs,” said Arjo. (*)
