UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) continues to fully support the Independent Campus Internship (MBKM) program by launching various relevant programs. One of them is a student exchange program initiated by the UNAIR Islamic Economics Undergraduate Program.

Head of UNAIR Islamic Economics Undergraduate Program, Bayu Arie Fianto, S.E., MBA., Ph.D., said that the Islamic Economics Program will maximize the potential of MBKM as well as possible. Students will be directly involved in research group activities such as community service and research according to student interests.

“Islamic Economics Program will also provide an opportunity for practitioners to deliver guest lectures,” he said during the UNAIR-IPB Student Exchange Dissemination, January 22, 2022.

In addition, UNAIR Islamic Economics Program will also establish a student exchange collaboration with Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB University). This activity will later be recognized as one of the MBKM activities that can be converted into credit courses.

“This exchange of UNAIR and IPB Islamic Economics students will provide a certificate stating the conversion of 20 credits of MBKM Islamic Economics UNAIR student exchange with IPB,” he explained.

Furthermore, Sylva Alif Rusmita, SE.,CIFP. explained the reasons for choosing IPB as a university that would later cooperate in student exchange with Islamic Economics UNAIR. According to her, the two universities are not so different and have a curriculum in line with UNAIR’s Islamic Economics.

“Thus, students have no difficulty in converting courses taken during student exchanges because the curriculum and courses offered by IPB are very relevant to UNAIR Islamic Economics,” she explained.

Myriad benefits

Sylva added that there are several benefits when students join the UNAIR-IPB Student Exchange Program. First, the knowledge gained is relevant to UNAIR Islamic Economics, making it easier for students to convert credit courses.

“Students don’t need to do additional final assignments because they are already linear. Meanwhile, the internship program requires a final project as an additional report,” she explained.

Lectures at IPB will be carried out online so that the activities of students who take part in offline internships can be done flexibly. Furthermore, students will get experience of being taught by IPB lecturers and will get a certificate which can be converted into 20 credits.

Islamic Economics Program has provided facilities to support MBKM activities. Sylva hoped that students could take advantage of the UNAIR-IPB student exchange opportunity as well as possible.

“Even though they take part in student exchanges at IPB, students must still take lectures seriously so that their final score will also be good,” she concluded. (*)
