UNAIR NEWS – UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., sent-off students who took part in the 65th Community Service Program – Learning Together with the Community (KKN-BBM) on Monday, January 17, 2022. Prof. Nasih emphasized in his speech that this event should not be limited to meeting course requirements but should be used as a medium for learning that is beneficial to the community.

In the concept of KKN-BBM activities, there are actually two dimensions: education and service. Prof. Nasih asserted that KKN-BBM must have learning outcomes for students who participate in it in terms of growing awareness and increasing soft skills in managerial aspects, collaboration, and problem-solving.

“Only 30% of high school graduates are able to continue their education at a higher education level. In other words, university students are part of the elite society. Therefore, we should be aware of our status and use the knowledge we get there as much as possible to empower the surrounding community. This concern must remain in the midst of the demands of modern society, which are individualistic and full of competition,” said the Professor of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR.

Prof. Nasih also conveyed the importance of collaboration in solving a problem in society, such as extreme poverty and stunting. This is because success cannot be achieved by itself, so we have to cooperate with many parties. In addition to collaboration, students are also required to solve a problem with a strong managerial aspect among members and analysis based on scientific data.

“In this regard, hopefully, the right decision can be made,” he emphasized.

Finally, Prof. Nasih also emphasized that UNAIR students should never neglect the health protocols during this 65th UNAIR KKN-BBM activity. In addition to self-protection during the potential next wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, students have to be role models in the community regarding proper behavior in dealing with this pandemic.
