Working towards SDG 17, UNAIR – ITS hold benchmarking

UNAIR NEWS  – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) continues to establish partnerships in achieving the goals, especially for SDG17, partnerships for the goals through benchmarking activities. This activity was carried out virtually, starting with a discussion related to the SDGs issue in East Java, and continued with a discussion on best practices implementation of SDGs at Universitas Airlangga and Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS). Discussions related to the SDGs will certainly continue to be carried out with universities in Indonesia that also focus on the SDGs.

The SDG 17: Partnership for the goals focuses on higher education institutions’ cooperation in achieving the SDGs. Examples of SDG 17 activities include collaboration between two institutions to realize the SDGs by creating programs and conducting research related to all SDG indicators.

The benchmarking session was carried out on Monday, September 6, 2021. ITS SDGs Study Center responded positively to the benchmarking event and agreed to continuous cooperation between UNAIR and ITS in the future. Dr. Agnes Tuti Rumiati, M.Sc, the Dead of ITS SDGs Study Center (Puskaji), and the deputy Dr. Ir. Janti Gunawan, M.Eng.Sc, MComIB, and some of their staff attended the event.

Head of UNAIR SDGs Center, Bayu Arie Fianto, SE, MBA, PhD stated, as educational institutions that is both in the city of Surabaya, UNAIR SDGs Center is optimistic that there will be collaboration between UNAIR and ITS, considering previous successes, such as with the Ksatria Airlangga Floating Hospital (RSTKA) and the RAISA health robot.

The collaboration between UNAIR and ITS for the floating hospital includes the contribution of ITS in terms of ship infrastructure, while UNAIR contributes to the hospital operations. As for the health robot, RAISA, ITS and UNAIR fully contribute from its manufacturing to programming. “In the future, UNAIR and ITS can combine other activities according to the focus of their respective fields,” concluded Bayu. (*)
