UNAIR NEWS – As a work unit of Universitas Airlangga that functions to bridge international cooperation, Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) makes innovations to support their internationalization programs. AGE has just developed the Internationalization Dashboard (DIGIAGE), which will make UNAIR academics able to access and explore databases related to internationalization more easily. The databases include data on APL (Academic Peer List), Consortium, MoA, and MoU.
The dissemination on the implementation of the internationalization dashboard in UNAIR was held by AGE on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, in the Junior Room, DoubleTree by Hilton, Surabaya. The high-ranking officials of AGE, including the head, secretary, and all heads of the AGE Divisions, were present to welcome the stakeholders of the internationalization programs. Faculty ambassadors (FA) and representatives of directorates, institutions, and units such as the Directorate of Academic Affairs, the Directorate of Information Systems and Digitalization, the Planning and Development Board were present. Several other units with main duties and functions related to internationalization also attended the dissemination event.
Head of AGE Iman Harymawan SE., MBA, Ph.D, said that the information system being developed by AGE is a digitalization process which is expected to be adaptable to the needs of UNAIR internationalization stakeholders.
“We call what we are disseminating today as (phase, ed) 1.0. Later, in April, we will launch the 2.0 version. This 1.0 is the digitization process from which everything is manual. Second, there will be user testing with a design thinking method based on the needs of the FA, the Directorate of Education, and the secretary,” explained Iman.
UNAIR lecturer who won an award as the most productive main author in the social and humanities field in 2020 from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology/National Research and Innovation Agency (Ristek/BRIN), also hoped that this digitalization process could make the university’s internationalization programs more efficient.
“I appreciate all AGE staffs, all faculty ambassadors, and all other directorates for their extraordinary work, but if we can work more efficiently, why not?” he said.
On the same occasion, the Head of Global Research Initiatives and Engagement Division, Dr. Taufan Bramantoro, drg., M.Kes, who was given the mandate to develop this information system, explained that it would be a solution to the complicated internationalization process.
“Besides being complicated, it has many stages and involves many parties. Therefore, we need a solution, not just administrative things,” said Taufan.
In addition, the representative of the DIGIAGE application development team, Achmad Zam Zam Aghasy, disseminated and simulated the features of the information system being developed. Some of the features provided include the addition of academic peers, submission of manuscripts for international cooperation (MoA/MoU), registration for publication of information on international activities such as grants, webinars/seminars/conferences, scholarships, exchange programs, competitions, and short programs/summer programs.
During the afternoon session, there was also a workshop on mapping the potential for international cooperation with universities in the Top 100 QS WUR 2022, Top 50 QS ASIA 2022, and QS 100 By Subject. Partnerships with universities or other institutions at the international level continue to be developed because these partnerships are very important for university development to show UNAIR’s contribution to education, research, and community service at the global level.
