The 65th UNAIR Community Service Program (KKN-BBM) focuses on four leading fields

Head of UNAIR Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Dr. Gadis Meinar Sari, dr. M.Kes. delivers her remarks for the 65th KKN-BBM UNAIR overview.

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) will commence the 65th Community Service Program – Learning Together with the Community (KKN-BBM) in early 2022. This KKN will be held from January 17, 2022, to February 12, 2022.

Head of UNAIR Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Dr. Gadis Meinar Sari, dr. M.Kes. stated that the implementation of KKN-BBM is adjusted to the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic. Thus, the program will be held online and offline.

“KKN will maintain strict health protocols, and students must get permission from their parents or guardians if they want to carry out KKN activities offline,” she explained.

The 65th KKN-BBM will assist students with the facilities needed to approach the community in the areas of Surabaya. UNAIR will provide facilities such as boarding schools or others available in Surabaya.

“Later on, LPPM UNAIR will coordinate with related parties, especially the Surabaya City Government and the PKK (Family Welfare Guidance, ed) program,” she continued.

At the 65th KKN-BBM Briefing, the LPPM UNAIR Team presented four speakers. They presented examples of material that can be implemented or applied for the KKN programs.

The four materials cover the four leading fields of KKN: health, education, environment, and community economic empowerment. The topic of health regarding stunting was presented by Prof. Dr. Sri Sumarmi, S.K.M., M.Si.

“The stunting program is also a program entrusted by the BKKBN and also the government through the vice president’s secretariat stating that the reduction in stunting rates can also be pursued or assisted by students,” she explained.

The topic of education was delivered by Yuni Sari S.S., M.A., PhD. The material was about increasing knowledge about the international language or English. In addition, UNAIR students can also implement other work programs in the field of education such as the illiteracy eradication program.

The environmental topic on waste management was delivered by Dr. rer. nat. Ganden Supriyanto Dipl. EST., M.Sc. Dr. Imron Mawardi SP., M.Si delivered the last topic of community economic empowerment programs through MSMEs and others.

“The KKN programs require everyone’s support to meet the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Please refer your activities to one of those goals,” he hoped. (*)
