Faculty of Dental Medicine takes oath of 85 new dentists and dental specialists

UNAIR NEWS – The Faculty of Dental Medicine (FKG) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) graduated its students to contribute to society on Sunday, October 31, 2021, through the 3rd Period of Dentist and Dental Specialist Oath-Taking event in a hybrid manner.

There were 85 new dentists and dental specialists who took the oath, consisting of 47 new dentists and 38 new dental specialists. In that sacred moment, they made an oath and promised to serve society and be faithful to the ethics of the dentist profession.

After taking the oath, Dentist Representative, Riddo Adli Rudhanton, drg., expressed his deepest gratitude to FKG UNAIR and parents. Riddo believed that the hard struggle, patience, and prayers that he and his friends had gone through were paid off through this moment.

“After this, we are ready to become new, professional, qualified, and ethical dentists. Be devoted and contribute to the homeland and the nation as we aspire to,” Riddo said in his speech.

The same thing was also expressed by the Representative of Dental Specialist, Ardian Jayakusuma Amran, drg. Sp.BM. On the occasion, Ardian also emphasized the importance of their title after taking the oath. According to him, the struggle of dentists and dental specialists has just begun.

“Having a new title means that we have a new obligation as well. On behalf of my friends, I remind you that we are the chosen people who have been given a gift from God to do and contribute more to society,” he said.

Congratulations also came from a series of FKG and UNAIR officials. Director of RSGM FKG UNAIR, Prof. RM Coen Pramono Danudiningrat S.U., Sp.BM(K)., FICS., in his remarks, appreciated the hard struggle of FKG UNAIR graduates who managed to keep studying well during the pandemic.

On the other hand, the Dean of FKG UNAIR, Dr. Agung Sosiawan, drg., M.Kes., M.H., advised all new dentists and dental specialists to continue remembering and practising professional ethics, responsibilities, and norms prevailing in society.

Dr. Agung emphasized the four moral principles of health ethics: spreading kindness, doing actions that are not harmful, giving autonomy to patients, and always upholding justice for anyone in need.

“Finally, remember that you are from Universitas Airlangga, the university that ranked 465th in the world. Be humble, excellent, brave, agile, and transcendent alumni,” he concluded.

In addition to the Dean of FKG UNAIR and the Director of RSGM, remarks and congratulations were also conveyed by UNAIR Vice-Rector for Internationalization, Digitization, and Information, M. Miftahussurur, dr. M.Kes., Sp.PD-KGEH., Ph.D, Head of FKG UNAIR Alumni, and various other guests.

The event was held online via Zoom Meeting, and streamed live on Youtube and offline at the Airlangga Convention Center. (*)
