UNAIR NEWS – Organizations under the auspices of Universitas Airlangga and Asia University, Taiwan Education Center in Surabaya (TECSID), held another Taiwan Higher Education Fair (THEF) this year. The education fair was held from September 27 to October 1, 2021, online through www.taiwanedufair.com due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
THEF has become a bridge for Indonesian students who want to continue their studies in Taiwan, as stated by the Head of the Taipei Economic & Trade Office in Indonesia (TETO), John C. Chen, in his remarks. In 2020, at least 13,000 Indonesian students came to Taiwan to study, making Indonesia the third-largest contributor to international students in Taiwan after Vietnam and Malaysia.
“The Taiwanese government has just announced that starting September this year, foreign students will be allowed to return to Taiwan to study,” said John Chen.
UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., positively welcomed the organization of the fair. As one of the facilitators for THEF Online 2021, UNAIR considers internationalization in higher education a very important aspect.
Through internationalization, continued Prof. Nasih, universities are able to improve the quality of their education and maintain the existing cooperation. “We hope that from now on, we can produce new collaborative initiatives in the context of academic activities,” said Prof. Nasih.
The THEF event is open to the public and free of charge. A total of 63 universities in Taiwan are to give live presentations at the fair (September 27-29, 2021). The universities include the National Changhua University of Education; National Taipei University of Education; Asia University; China Medical University; National Central University; and many other universities.
Furthermore, the education fair this year is also enlivened with webinars and virtual exhibitions. In addition, TECSID as the organizer of THEF Online 2021, has now provided university contacts through the website so that visitors can easily contact the target university. (*)
