Virtual art exhibition stimulates interest of children with special needs

UNAIR NEWS- Faculty of Humanities Universitas Airlangga (FIB UNAIR) and the World University Association for Community Development (WUACD) UNAIR have launched a special virtual art exhibition for children with special needs on Saturday, September 11, 2021. The event, “Virtual Exhibition of Arts to Promote Inclusiveness for Children with Special Needs,” will be held online from September 11, 2021, to October 30, 2021.

Lina Puryanti, Ph.D., Vice Dean III of FIB UNAIR, revealed that the virtual art exhibition promotes inclusiveness for children with special needs. “Their exhibited works are in the forms of paintings, poetry, and virtual photography,” said Lina at the launch of the event.

In the art exhibition, FIB and WUACD UNAIR collaborate with institutions that focus on the development of children with special needs. Some of them are the Coordinating Board for Social Welfare Activities (BKKKS) East Java, the Foundation for the Development of Children with Disabilities (YPAC) Surabaya, and Bangun Bangsa Special School, and SMALB Karya Mulia Surabaya.

“These arts are a kind of proof that children with special needs have the same capability to do various things like normal humans,” said Lina. In this exhibition, continued Lina, there will be around 20 participants whose works will be exhibited during the event.

To visit the exhibition, visitors can access via the link bit.ly/VirtualExhibitionFIB2021. After going to the link, visitors can wait for the content download process to reach 100 percent.

Once the download is completed, visitors can start exploring the arts on display. Visitors can start an art search automatically by clicking on the ‘play’ icon so that during the tour, visitors do not have to navigate through the virtual exhibition manually.

If visitors want to enjoy an art longer, they can click on the ‘pause’ icon. After they are satisfied and want to continue the tour again, visitors can click the ‘play’ icon again.

Visitors can also give a written appreciation at this virtual art exhibition by using the comment feature at the bottom of the exhibition platform. If you want to write a comment, visitors can first create an account at https://www.artsteps.com/.
