UNAIR NEWS – Personal branding is an essential element in the professional world. By having personal branding, other people become aware of our identity. This self-identity is usually related to a person’s ability in a particular field.
“Personal branding is how we introduce our impressions to others so that others know our identity,” explained Raudah Sabila, the founder of Kita Progressive, an online platform about self-development, on Saturday, July 17, 2021. According to Sabila, personal branding is closely related to individual passions or interests.
“Personal branding will be ideal if it is built with passion. So, suppose you want to promote yourself or build an impression on others, ideally. In that case, it should be in line with what we like,” she said at a webinar entitled “Level Up Your Personal Branding and Self-management in The Digitalized Era” by the Human Resource Development Department of Student Executive Board-Student Family (BEM KM) Faculty of Psychology Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR).
“Don’t let this personal branding not (describe, ed) us. So, you guys have to find your passion first before talking about personal branding,” said Sabila.
According to Sabila, passion is a tendency that makes us excited to carry out activities in certain fields. “So, these activities really define yourself and what you really like,” said Sabila.
Sabila continued, there are three important points to know whether a particular field is our passion. “To find a passion, we need to remember three points: never getting bored to do it, never expecting anything other excitements, and also feeling content with lots of energy when doing it,” she said.
The woman who also works as a professional MC revealed several strategies that can be used to identify our passion. One of them is by being productive and having more positive activities. “So being productive is looking for existing stimuli for us to know that there are types of passions,” explained Sabila.
Furthermore, having a good support system is also important so that someone can identify their passion. The support system here can be in the form of an environment that can support our development. “Joining youth organizations or communities is very important. Moreover, build a relationship with a person considered your role model,” concluded Sabila. (*)
