UNAIR NEWS – In addition to improving publication performance, universities must also increase programs focusing on the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Some UNAIR’s SDGs programs for public event indicator include Airlangga Education Expo (AEE), Airlangga Global Day (AGD), and Airlangga Career Fair (ACF).

First, AEE UNAIR is a program in line with SDG 4 Quality Education, ensuring quality inclusive and fair education and promoting learning opportunities. Through Airlangga Education Expo (AEE), UNAIR provides access and information to the public about education at UNAIR.

Through AEE, UNAIR provides access to the public on higher education as a way to realize the dreams of the nation’s youth. In this event, UNAIR also provides golden tickets, opportunities for students who fit the qualifications to be admitted as UNAIR’s students.

Through AEE, prospective students can get various information, ranging from entry pathways, choices of faculties, tips on choosing majors, to talk shows that are useful for prospective students.

Second, Airlangga Global Day (AGD). AGD cultural week presents an international cultural atmosphere in the campus environment. One of AGD’s goals is to make international students studying at UNAIR have a place to enjoy their traditions and culture.

AGD’s activities that have been held include joint yoga activities, Bollywood Cultural performances, and an international Indian film festival. This Cultural Week is a collaboration between UNAIR, Surabaya City Council, and the Indian Embassy. Furthermore, there were also performances of Reog Dance, Saman Dance, Angklung, and Yosakai.

“To enliven the activity, there is also a fair consisting of eight  local tenants, four  tenants  for a food plating competition between international students from Africa and Thailand. As well as, two   special tenants for Myanmar-style international food with Thai-dressed attendant and Indian Cuisine Food from India,” explained Karis, chairman of the 2018 Airlangga Global Day organizer.

In addition to the two public activities, there is also the Airlangga Career Fair (ACF) which provides a job fair, and exhibitions on scholarships and entrepreneurship programs from BUMN (state-owned enterprises), BUMD, multinational companies, and trusted private companies. Interestingly, this exhibition is open and free for public by registering on the official website of the Directorate of Career Development, Incubation, Entrepreneurship and Alumni Affairs (DPKKA) UNAIR.

UNAIR has human resources with intelligent mindsets that can support the achievement of SDGs. (*)
