UNAIR NEWS – World university rankings publisher, Quacquarelli Symonds, officially released its latest QS World University Rankings (QS WUR) on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. In this prestigious ranking table, Universitas Airlangga has improved its position to 465th worldwide.
It is one of the achievements and proof of all UNAIR academics’ commitment under the leadership of UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE., MT., Ak. In a press conference at AMERTA Hall, Campus C UNAIR, June 9, Prof. Nasih stated that since the beginning of his leadership (2015), UNAIR has made various breakthroughs and steps towards ranking improvements.
“Efforts and endeavors continue to be made by all members of UNAIR academic community to be among the Top 500 best universities in the world. And alhamdulillah, we have now reached the Top 465 position in the world,” he said.
UNAIR has shown dynamic ranking trend in QS WUR. In 2014, UNAIR was in the 701+ position, from 2015 to 2018 it remained in the same position. In 2019, it fell to 751 – 800 position, and in 2020, UNAIR was ranked at 651st – 700th. The hard work continued in the second period of Prof. Nasih’s leadership. In 2021 publication, UNAIR was in position 521 – 530 and in QS WUR 2022, the university has reached Top 465 position of the best universities in the world.
“This honor and achievement cannot be separated from the hard work culture of all members of the academic community,” explained Prof. Nasih.
In addition to participating in the QS WUR ranking, continued Prof. Nasih, his party will also follow various other world rankings. One of the most important things, UNAIR is finally allowed to take part in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings because it has sufficient number of researches.
“Insya Allah, next year we will participate and immediately achieve the Top 1,000,” he said.
At the end, Prof. Nasih also emphasized that good ranking result are not the main goal. The process and all efforts to make improvements in each sector are the main foundations to keep moving forward to become an excellent and acknowledged university in the world.
“With these steps and efforts, we certainly hope that UNAIR can and is able to become a SMART University, which means Smart education for millennial people, Meaningful research and community service, Acceleration innovation and enterprising, Responsive and lean management, and Top up tangible and intangible resource utilization,” he concluded.
