UNAIR NEWS – The Nursing three-year vocational program (D3) of Faculty of Vocational Studies, Universitas Airlangga (FV UNAIR) is expanding its reach to produce skilled health workers ready to serve in the community. One of the efforts is collaboration with the Lamongan Regency Government (Pemkab) in expanding employment opportunities.
The collaboration is in the form of a Home Care Service program which was launched on Thursday, June 3, 2021, by Dr. H. Yuhronur Efendi, MBA, the Regent of Lamongan. In carrying out these health services, Yuhronur said there are many things to prepare, including the health workers. “Here, we need a lot of competent health workers,” he said.
“The Home Care Service program is a continuous and comprehensive health service provided to individuals and families in their place of residence. The goal is to improve, maintain, restore health, independence, and minimize disability due to illnesses,” he added.
The need for competent health workers makes D3 Nursing FV UNAIR a stakeholder who will produce competent health workers to meet these needs. “We are working with UNAIR through the Faculty of Vocational Studies, especially the Nursing Study Program whose campus is also in Lamongan, to produce competent health workers for this Home Care Service,” explained Yuhronur.
Meanwhile, the Head of the FV UNAIR D3 Nursing Study Program, Dr. Makhfudli, S.Kep. Ns., M.Ked. Trop, explained that this collaboration would make it easier for D3 Nursing alumni to get jobs. “Later on, the D3 Nursing alumni can immediately work there to implement their knowledge to the community,” he said on Monday, June 7, 2021.
Makhfudli explained that the Home Care Service is focused on healing the sick and preventing healthy people from getting sick. In the future, Home Care Service is not only intended for nursing. “The scope of this Home Care Service is wide. So in the future, it will not only for D3 Nursing, it can also develop in other study programs such as traditional medicine, radiology, K3, physiotherapy, and others,” he explained.
To maximize the effort to produce competent health workers, the Lamongan Regency Government does not hesitate to provide scholarship programs for D3 Nursing students. “The Lamongan Regency Government also provides scholarship programs for our students every year. So you don’t have to worry about thinking about tuition fees and future jobs,” concluded Makhfudli.
