UNAIR NEWS – Last week, the Scimago Institutions Ranking (SIR) institution published a list of the best universities based on scientific subjects. Three faculties at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) were ranked at the top three positions in Indonesia. The three of them are the Faculty of Dental Medicine (FKG), the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH), and the Faculty of Psychology (FPSi).
Regarding this achievement, Muhammad Miftahussurur, dr. M.Kes., Sp.PD, Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Internationalization, Digitalization and Information gave a response. UNAIR is focusing on the rankings recommended by the government, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), and Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. He is grateful that even though the Scimago ranking is new, three faculties at UNAIR are in the top three in Indonesia.
” Alhamdulillah, three faculties at UNAIR got a pretty good ranking in Scimago. Of course, this achievement can provide provisions for the three faculties and also encourage other faculties to gain better positions, ” he said on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.
This year is the first time Scimago Institutions Rankings (SIR) published its rankings. Miftah emphasized that UNAIR will continue to do its best in all rankings. “We will continue to make various efforts, so UNAIR is the best at any rankings,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dean of FKG UNAIR Dr. Agung Sosiawan drg., M.Kes said that FKG would continue to make improvements. The ranking has made him quite introspective.
“We are both proud and introspective. As the oldest Faculty of Dental Medicine in Indonesia, FKG UNAIR should maintain dignity as the oldest university in Indonesia. We need to carry out evaluations on our shortcomings, “he explained.
In line with Agung, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology UNAIR Prof. Dr. Suryanto, M.Si., Psychologist emphasized the same thing. However, his party also emphasized that the ranking was a bonus from the hard work the faculty had done in advancing education, research, and community service.
“This achievement is not our goal, but a reward for the hard work we have done so far,” said Prof. Sur.
In the ranking recommended by the government, the QS World University Rankings, UNAIR is the fourth-best university in Indonesia. The four best campuses are Gadjah Mada University, University of Indonesia, Bandung Institute of Technology, and UNAIR.
UNAIR, as one of the best universities in Indonesia, is committed to improving quality and competitiveness both nationally and globally. (*)
