UNAIR NEWS – “We can’t always get what we want sometimes. If you’re getting tired, you need to stop first and then work harder.” That is the opening sentence of ‘Titik Jeda initiated by two alumni of Universitas Airlangga, Afifah Nurrosyidah and Aulia Anugrah Intani.

The Podcast series discusses the struggle of scholarship recipients inspired by personal experience from Afifah and Aulia. At that time, they were struggling to find scholarships.

“We want to make our podcast not only for entertainment but also to motivate listeners from the struggle and hard work side of scholarship recipients,” said Afifah.

According to the alumnae of Information Systems undergraduate program UNAIR 2016, Titik Jeda discussed the bitter side of struggles from scholarship recipients that were rarely exposed before.

“With this podcast, we want the listener to understand the struggle, and I hope it could motivate them to work harder,” said Afifah.

Afifah had planned to make a podcast before. She and her podcast’s partner, Aulia are quite interested in this field because both of them worked as radio broadcasters back then.

“Podcast is quite big right now, that’s why I want to make it. I asked Aulia, an alumnus from Faculty of Law, to make Podcast. After that, we discuss what topics for our Podcast. “said Afifah.

Although it’s not hard to make a podcast, Afifah and the team admit that it is quite tricky because of the time difference. Currently, Afifah is preparing to study for a doctoral degree in Taiwan. Meanwhile, Arbi is living in Japan and Aulia in Yogyakarta.

The Podcast that planned from May 2020 was finally realized two months later. Over time, Titik Jeda Podcast management team added one more member. Arbi Surya Satria Ridwan, an alumnus of Universitas Gajah Mada (UGM) who is continuing his studies in Japan.

“We choose podcasts because it’s not hard to arrange the schedules with our team member due to the time differences, “she said.

It’s not uncommon for interviews to be conducted at unexpected times. Aulia even had an interview while on the bus. Afifah admitted that the three of them had never met each other directly during production.

Currently, their podcast is available on Spotify, and it has entered episode 10 with a total of more than 1,000 listeners. During that time, the interview was conducted through Zoom, and they recorded their conversation. From there, Afifah is in charge of editing, while Ardi focused on designing, and Aulia was in charge of the script.

“We’ve recorded on Zoom then I have to edit and cut into sections for the podcast. One podcast editing production can take 2 hours, “said Afifah.

In the future, Afifah wants to have several sessions with the same concept and develop the content to be creative than before. She also wants to make live streaming sharing session with the same topic as well.

“So far, the listener response is good, the speakers are happy, and the feedback is not bad. Hopefully, Titik Jeda can inspire and motivate listeners, “she said.

Furthermore, Afifah also thought of establishing a start-up scholarship planner. He wants to help students who are planning their further studies abroad. (*)
