UNAIR NEWS – Several residents arrived at RW Hall of Kedung Cowek Village, Bulak District, Surabaya on Saturday, September 26. They enthusiastically participated in the socialization activities organized by the Student Executive Board (BEM Faculty of Vocational Studies UNAIR. Regarding the prevention of Covid-19 and the importance of literacy for children.
The community service agenda entitled Vocational Social Project (VOSPRO) received good enthusiasm from the residents. According to Endin Yoga Pradana as head of the event stated that several agenda activities carried out on that day. Among them socialization online with the main focus on Education and Health, which takes place on the east coast of Surabaya.
“Unfortunately, there should be socialization and training on the product packaging for residents. But it didn’t happen, because there were several obstacles, “he said.
As one of “Bina Desa” work programs, this social action aims to educate the public. The main thing is in utilizing the potential of natural and human resources owned.
Several students who also VOSPRO volunteers are known to provide material assistance to residents on the coasts of Surabaya and Sidoarjo. Precisely in Kedung Cowek Village, Bulak District, Surabaya and Pucukan Hamlet, Gebang Village, Sidoarjo.
“We chose these two villages because they are classified as underdeveloped areas. Moreover, the level of public awareness of the importance of maintaining a healthy life amid a pandemic is still low, “said Endin.
In Sidoarjo, social service activities are carried out by making disinfectant liquid to be given to residents, greening programs, to cheap markets. “We have a cheap market in Pucukan Village, Sidoarjo. The system is by selling coupons 50 per cent cheaper than the original price, “he said.
Meanwhile, apart from socialization activities, several social actions were also intensified in Surabaya. They were starting from building a place to wash hands, repairing the Community Reading Park (TBM), to distributing 20 basic food packages to residents. “The basic necessities such as rice, oil and sugar are distributed free,” he explained.
The student of 2019 class conveyed that some improvements were made at TBM Kenjeran. Among them are making new bookshelves, painting TBMs with the community, and giving donation books. “We are pleased because the local children were enthusiast to read books from the donation of this event,” concluded Endin.
Furthermore, he said that residents who came during the event implemented all of the health protocols.
Several representatives of the village were there as well. They were Huda as Head of RW and Roni as Head of RT Pucukan Village, Head of RW Desa Kedung Cowek, Surabaya KH. Mukhlis.
On the other hand, Dwi Wahyu Indiarti S. SI. PhD and Dessy Harisanty S. SOS, MA attended virtually through Zoom as socialization presenters. There were also Rifqi Abiyyu as President of BEM Faculty Vocational Studies UNAIR and Prof. Dr. H. Widi Hidayat, SE, M.Sc., Ak., CMA., CA. as Dean of Faculty of Vocational Studies UNAIR gave online remarks.
