UNAIR NEWS – Nur Rizqi Febriandika, or Rizqi, successfully completed his double degree program by writing a thesis entitled Analysis of Macroeconomics Effect, Number of Bank Offices, and Financial Performance on Market Share of Islamic Banks in Indonesia (2008-2019), which is related to influencing factors of Islamic banking growth in Indonesia.
The double degree program that Rizqi followed, led him to conduct a proposal and a thesis hearing in Taiwan. He had difficulty to explain topics related to Islamic economics and the differences between Islamic banks and conventional banks because the concept of Islamic economics is not yet familiar in Taiwan so maybe the two types of banks are considered the same.
“Therefore, this (thesis and proposal session in Taiwan, ed) is one of our symbols to disseminate Islamic economics and Islamic banking in non-Islamic countries including Taiwan,” he said.
Completing master studies at two different institutions, Asia University and Universitas Airlangga in two years is not easy. Rizqi is expected to adapt to the new environment and culture quickly.
But these obstacles did not prevent Rizqi from getting good results. Rizqi successfully graduated with 95.11 GPA at Asia University and 3.93 GPA at Universitas Airlangga.
Rizqi is currently carrying out his activities as a lecturer at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. After completing his master’s degree, Rizqi plans to get a scholarship to continue his doctorate abroad.
To students who were struggling to complete their master’s degree, Rizqi advised them to understand their own weaknesses. When they have weakness towards something, they need to spend more time to catch up. Furthermore, they also need to strive to hone one’s own strengths. Moreover, the priority scale is important to manage, depending on motivation and goals of pursuing master’s degree.
“Know yourself. If you can’t recognize yourself, then you will find it difficult to know what you need and what you should do, “he concluded.
