UNAIR NEWS – The selection process for Universitas Airlangga Rector 2020-2025 is at the Academic Community Hearing (UMK) session. It is being held for three days, from Tuesday, February 18 to Thursday, February 20.
Being held in Garuda Mukti Hall of Campus C UNAIR, the first session of UMK was very lively, attended by students, lecturers, administrative staff, alumni, and the assessment team. The activity was opened by Head of Rector Candidate Election Committee Prof. Suryanto. In his remarks, Prof. Suryanto asserted that UMK is expected to be a mean to introduce vision and programs from the rector candidates.
There was also a remarks from Head of the Academic Senate Prof. Djoko Santoso, who spoke about the urgency of rector selection process. According to Prof. Djoko, UMK becomes one of the open places where the public can supervise the process.
“And with that, hopefully the entire UNAIR academic community can find a Rector who brings improvements in the future,” he said.
After the speech, the UMK process was continued with a presentation session that was guided directly by Vice Dean I of FEB Dr. Rudi Purwono and Vice Dean III Dr. Nanik Siti Aminah. Furthermore, the first presentation of the prospective rector was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Nafik. In his presentation, Nafik mentioned the vision and mission of UNAIR and the role of every element to work together. Not only that, he also emphasized the revitalization of UNAIR’s role in providing solutions to the nation’s problems.
Nafik who is a lecturer at FEB UNAIR also explained the role of UNAIR’s independence with a focus on independent financial management raised by many parties, mainly from innovation and entrepreneurship.
One of the main things emphasized by Nafik is the role and focus of the future of UNAIR to move on life sciences. After Nafik, the next prospective rector presenting was Prof. Rahmi Jened. She emphasized the importance of innovation. Prof. Rahmi urged innovation to be one of the cornerstones of supporting various government programs. Furthermore, the Professor of UNAIR Faculty of Law also emphasized the acknowledged and modern research innovations.
“In this regard, efforts are needed to build good management regulations, innovation, and a culture of innovation climate,” he said.
Before closing the presentation, Prof. Rahmi emphasized sustainability. One of them, by continuing good programs by the previous leader. The last presentation from the rector candidate was delivered by Dr. Eridani from FST UNAIR. In his presentation, he emphasized that UNAIR in the future must participate actively to support and play a role in solving communities’ social problems in East Java and Indonesia. Furthermore, he also highlighted the structuring and management of student learning.
Moreover, there are engineering study programs which can later be arranged better. In the end, he also emphasized on more optimal publications on research, internships, and community programs.
