UNAIR anti-aging stem cell product receives distribution permit from BPOM

UNAIR NEWS – The latest achievements were achieved by Universitas Airlangga at the end of 2019. One of the products made by Universitas Airlangga was able to obtain a production permit and distribution permit from Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM).

The certificate was given directly by the Head of BPOM Dr. Ir. Penny K. Lukito, MCP to Vice Rector IV Universitas Airlangga Prof. Junaidi Khotib, Ph.D Tuesday, December 12, 2019. The certificate was handed over in the National Dialogue event attended by the Head of BPOM and all deputies, pharmaceutical industry, and higher education, in Jakarta.

The product which has obtained the production and distribution permit is named PUA-Skin for anti-aging. The production was carried out by Universitas Airlangga Stem Cell Research Development Center with PT. Phapros, Tbk. Prof. Junaidi Khotib, Ph.D expressed his gratitude to many parties involved in stem cell product development to this day.

“We hope that when we are able to mass-produce stem cells, and put them to good use, we can prevent people going abroad for treatment. What were imported, can be produced domestically, “said Prof. Jun.

The Stem Cell obtaining a distribution permit from BPOM is the first product produced by UNAIR. In Indonesia, this product is the first product from stem cell. After the production permit and distribution permit are obtained, Universitas Airlangga through Stem Cell Research Development Center will conduct production, formulation, packaging, and submit it to other parties in this case PT. Phapros, Tbk to be circulated to the market.

Furthermore, UNAIR has prepared another product to obtain a distribution permit from BPOM, allergen extract.

“There are five product variants that are ready to be registered in 2020, house dust or mite allergen extract, shrimp allergen extracts, chicken allergen extract, milk allergen extract, and egg allergen extract,” stated Prof. Jun.

“With this permit, we hope that each research result will get good legality if something new related to medicine can be obtained legally, ” he added. (*)
