UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Student Executive Board (BEM) has just hosted the UiTM – UNAIR Student Leadership Conference. The conference this time was about Conservation of the Surrounding Nature and Climate Change of the World. It was held on Thursday, October 31, 2019.
It was the second conference held by BEM UNAIR together with BEM Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Being held in the Plenary Meeting Room of Campus C Management Office UNAIR, the conference ran well.
Head of BEM UNAIR Agung Tri Putra revealed that the conference discussed two main topics, the resolution of student leadership and the issue of environmental sustainability and global climate change.
“The discussion revolves around how we maintain solidarity and leadership. There was also a discussion on climate change in Indonesia, “he said.
In the conference, he continued, we also discussed the concern of the Indonesian people towards the issue of climate change. Then also about community concern in Malaysia, so later it could find a solution.
“Hopefully we will be able to at least find a solution in the form of shared awareness to be disseminated to the community,” he added.
Agung said that the conference will not stop there. BEM UNAIR will also invite BEM UiTM to visit Jambangan.
“Later in Jambangan, we will see together the waste processing in Surabaya,” he continued.
Agung added that all this time BEM UNAIR had tried to work together with the community to preserve the environment. So far, BEM UNAIR has carried out community-based community service in partner villages in Jolosutro, Blitar.
“For example, like cleaning the beach. Then, how can the clean water flow, “he explained.
In Jolosutro Village, BEM UNAIR has succeeded in building a kind of water tank so that the community can enjoy clean water. Besides, BEM UNAIR also empowered entrepreneurship to the community.
“So if we explore with the people there, what will happen if they were taught entrepreneurship. Furthermore, it will also be a self-study for students on how to enter the community, “he concluded. (*)
