UNAIR NEWS – Technology plays an important role in the world of health. Its rapid development affects everything including the field of radiology. As technology advances, health radiology devices are increasingly sophisticated and provide better health information.
One of the latest technologies in radiology is MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). MRI is the latest breakthrough that can help the examination by utilizing magnetic fields and radio wave energy. MRI can display images of structures and organs in the body to assist health workers in diagnosing diseases.
However, there are not many technicians who can and are interested in using MRI devices. For this reason, the Student Association (HIMA) D4 of Radiology Imaging Technology, Universitas Airlangga held a seminar entitled “New Era of Stroke Imaging” on Saturday, September 28, 2019.
“The seminar was attended by speakers from various fields. There are presenters who discuss the clinical side, the radiology side, and also the applicants. There are 200 participants, “said Irfan Rizky as Head of the Committee.
Nowadays, most radiographers can only use conventional equipment and CT (Computerized Tomography). Therefore, this seminar was held to provide information related to MRI to participants consisting of general practitioners, radiographers, and students. Through various materials presented by experts, Irfan hoped that seminar participants can find the fact that MRI is interesting to study.
“Interest in MRI is still low for radiographers and students, even though MRI is an up-to-date development tool and will occupy a large part of radiology field,” he said.
“Therefore we want to improve their interest and show them that using MRI is not as difficult as one might imagine,” he continued.
In addition to provide information about MRI, Irfan also wanted this seminar to improve the knowledge of the participants regarding stroke. Stroke is one of the deadliest diseases in the world, so we need clinical knowledge related to the disease.
“We hope that after this event the participants can get a lot of information about MRI. MRI is hi-tech and not as complicated as imagined. This information can then be applied later for work, “concluded Irfan. (*)
