As of 2018, UNAIR has certified 1,535 lecturers and remaining 202 lecturers have not been certified yet.
Met after the event, Dr. Madyan explained that professional certificate is a proof of recognition for a lecturer. It means they are declared eligible as instructors and obliged to carry out Higher Education Tri Dharma, education, research, and community service with a minimum 12 credits.
“With the certification, lecturers can access all websites owned by Directorate of Higher Education, such as Science and Technology Index (SINTA), Research Management Information Systems and Community Service (SIMLIBTABMAS) and so on. It is also required to get a grant for research, “said Dr. Madyan.
Dr. Dwi Setyawan revealed that there is some change in the certification system. If previously it was semi-online, it is now fully online through Integrated Resource Information System (SISTER) application from Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. So all teaching and learning activities carried out by each lecturer will be listed in the central database to prevent counterfeiting.
“So, SISTER recorded all the Higher Education Tri Dharma including publications. The feasibility of the lecturer to pass the certification is seen from the track record. Therefore, each lecturer has an account. Later Dikti will verify their data. If it is not verified, it is not approved, “said the man who is also the Vice Dean II of Faculty of Pharmacy.
Meanwhile, Drg. Adi Subianto revealed several indicators related to lecturer certification such as serving the institution for two years, having an academic position at least in the form of an expert assistant, having English language competence, and basic academic with a certain score. If the lecturer meets the criteria, then they are entitled to be certified.
“Certification of lecturers in UNAIR, even though they input and worked on their own through the system, they were still guided by the committee. We will foster and assist, so that their results are truly feasible to pass the certification. So, they don’t work alone, “he added.
Dr. Madyan emphasized on the lecturer profession and the obligations they had to fulfill. Not only about teaching, but also on community service and international publications.
“Because the requirements to be a professor have changed. Different from the past, the research component was only twenty-five percent. Now it’s quite big, from education, I think everyone can achieve it but research is not an easy aspect. “(*)
