UNAIR NEWS – Before the latest QS Ranking being published on May 31, Universitas Airlangga with Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemristek Dikti) conducted progress monitoring meeting about World Class University (WCU) program on Thursday, April 18, 2019. The 2019 WCU Presentation and Discussion with the top officials of Universitas Airlangga was about WCU Leadership Commitment Program and was held in Room 301, 3rd Floor, Management Office of Campus C UNAIR.
All leaderships of UNAIR attended with five Kemristek Dikti representatives, Prof. Hermawan K. Dipojono; Prof. Dr. dr. Idrus Paturusi; Nining Setyawati, Head of Performance Assessment Sub-Directorate); Dwi Warni Untiawati; and Rizqi Arif Wicaksono.
UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA., in his opening presentation delivered a number of recent progress on WCU program. All UNAIR deans and faculty members at faculty level, continued Prof. Nasih, were fully committed to the WCU program.
Therefore, efforts in the form of academic and non-academic policies at faculty level are directed towards internationalization. One of them is through an international program accreditation.
“The last one was ASIC (Accreditation for International Schools, Colleges, and Universities, ed) which accredited 13 programs at Faculty of Social Sciences and FIB (Faculty of Humanities),” he said.
The ASIC visit has added the long list of international bodies accredited UNAIR for its international program. Previously, ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics / Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Mathematics) has accredited some programs at FST (Faculty of Science and Technology).
“The commitment to realize the World Class University program continues to be encouraged by all members of UNAIR. All ranks are invited to contribute, until the lecturers, “he said.
Starting this WCU program in 2016, Prof. Dr. Nasih revealed that UNAIR progress is quite good. The steps were really realized in 2017 and 2018. As a result, a number of assessment indicators have improved. One of them is the number of publications in Scopus indexed journals.
Meanwhile, Prof. Hermawan in his presentation showed a number of data on the achievements of WCU program in some world universities and the Indonesian universities. In the criteria of academic reputation, UNAIR’s achievements are better. UNAIR is at number 17.0, while two world universities being compared is 15.9 and 7.7.
“Then, the employer reputation’s comparison is not very ,” he said.
However, UNAIR’s achievements indicated a fairly good progress. Therefore, the target towards the world Top 500 is expected to be realized through these good steps. (*)
