UNAIR NEWS – Saturday, 9 March 2019 was the most memorable day in Rizky Kurniawan’s life because the 2014 Indonesian Literature student was officially graduated from Universitas Airlangga. After less than 5 years of struggling, Rizky was named as outstanding graduate of Faculty of Humanities and achieved a 3.61 GPA.
“I feel very happy. Really, I did not expect to be chosen as an outstanding graduate, ” explained Rizky with a smile.
When he was asked about achievements, Rizky blushed a little. He said that his achievements were only about films. This is because Rizky is active in Cinematography Student Activity Unit (UKM) since becoming freshman. For approximately 4 years, Rizky made works and achievements in cinematography.
Some of his achievements include 2nd place in 2018 Short Movie Information and Communication Contest (ICON), Best Inspiring Film at 2016 Indonesian Youth Creative Short Film Festival with Setetes Koin, Best Video in Indonesia Conference on Water and Envireronmental Resilience ( ICWER) in Faculty of Geography UGM, winner of 2016 Creative Cultural Forum at FIB UI.
He was once the judge of videogram competition at Airlangga Population Festival (GPA 3.0), and many more.
The 22-year-old man considers that some achievements he obtained were special gifts that Allah gave. It also a sign that his struggles come to fruition.
“Walk to the limit, sail to the island. Don’t stop trying to reach your desired goal, “Rizky said.
Rizky’s motto is to continue to be useful for others. Rizky explained that the motto motivates him when he was tired of his daily activities.
If life is used to others, it will become more meaningful. The man who idolized Pramudya Ananta Toer reminded the students to never stop creating works.
“The only way to be remembered is by never stop producing works,” Rizky concluded. (*)
