UNAIR NEWS – Ministry of Arts and Culture of Student Executive Body (BEM) Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNAIR has a new work program named Jam Kosong. The work program cooperates with Cinemouse in the form of discussion and screening of 12 Angry Man film on Wednesday March 13, 2019 in room 309 of Building A, FISIP.

There were Wimar Herdanto, S. I. Kom, a film director as well as a Lecturer in Communication Studies at FISIP UNAIR and seventy participants enlivened the film screening.

Wimar expressed his concern about the quality of Indonesian film. According to him, Indonesia film usually raised horror and other non-educational themes.

“Although the film seems monotonous, it contains a message that can be conveyed to the audience regarding to Human Rights (HAM). Those values should be emulated in Indonesian film industry. Indonesia is expected not to produce films for gaining profit only. But it also teaches value to the audience, “he added.

Wimar continued, choosing the right theme can be supported by plot that can give the idea about space and time of an event. For example 12 Angry Man, the audience will be shown with a long scene in one room. However, they can still enjoy the film because the dialogue that was created provides a picture of space and time for a scene.

Muhammad Baskhoro Wahyu Dewantoro or commonly called Dewa, one of the founders of Cinemouse said one of the reasons in choosing this film was to teach the audience about the variety of perspectives on films that were considered conservative. Take a note, the collaboration between BEM FISIP and Cinemouse will continue and will be held regularly, twice in a month. (*)
