UNAIR NEWS – Emotional atmosphere surrounds Airlangga Convention Center Universitas Airlangga after the graduation procession on Saturday, December 1. The graduates went to their parents, embraced them and thanking for supporting their education to a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree.
On that occasion UNAIR Rector Prof. Moh Nasih asked the graduates to take flower arrangements in front of the stage, and give to their parents. Accompanied by the Bunda song, sung by the choir group, it made the atmosphere even more emotional.
This December period, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih graduated 1,084 students, consist of diploma graduates (D3-D4) 156 people, undergraduate (S1) 681 people, master’s (S2) 192 people, and doctoral (S3) 25 people. This December graduation period, Faculty of Economics and Business is still the faculty with the most graduates, namely 182 graduates.
In this graduation period in December 2018, there were 7 graduates who were listed as the best graduates, and 10 graduates were listed as outstanding graduates. The best graduates are assessed based on the highest GPA acquisition taken from each faculty and level of study, with a maximum study period of 4 years for undergraduate programs. While the outstanding graduates were assessed from the non-academic achievements achieved by students during their studies.
In his speech to thousands of graduates, Rector advised graduates to always maintain morality, wherever they are. Just like the UNAIR motto, Excellence with Morality .
“The expertise you have learned will not be optimal if it is not equipped with values of morality. Balance, complete, and perfect high morality skills, ” said Rector UNAIR.
The Rector also appealed to all graduates to always uphold honesty in applying knowledge in the society.
“Honesty becomes very important. Science and technology are of no use if honesty is ignored, “the Rector ordered.
“After graduation, you have the ulul albab principle. People who have high awareness and high knowledge. Scholars are one measure of the use of science for the benefit of the people, “he added.
The Rector also advised the graduates to always maintain good name of the alma mater. “As of today, all of you are UNAIR alumni. We entrust the good name of the UNAIR alma mater to you, “he said.
The graduation was attended by UNAIR officials, professors, graduates, parents and relatives of graduates. There were also invited guests including Dr. H. Sunarto, SH, MH Deputy of the Supreme Court of Republic of Indonesia, Marine Colonel Dr. Ariyo Sakso, SPM, Chief of the ER of RSAL Hospital; LLDikti Wil. 7 East Java Prof. Dr. Ir. Suprapto, DEA; Police Brigadier General Syamsul Sidiq, National Police Headquarters; and representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Every year UNAIR conducts a graduation four times. With this graduation, UNAIR added the list of high-quality human resources that will contribute into the society. (*)
