UNAIR NEWS – In its third year of implementation since 2016, Stovit Award gave appreciation to the academic community of Faculty of Dental Medicine (FKG) Universitas Airlangga. Being held at Wyndham Hotel Surabaya, the awarding event was held quite elegant and lively. No less than 400 invited guests from students, educators, staff, and FKG UNAIR alumni took part in the grand event. There was also Oral Surgeon Prof. Norifumi Nakamura, DDS, PhD from Kagoshima University Japan.
In his speech, FKG UNAIR Dean Dr. R. Darmawan Setijanto drg., M.Kes., said that the task of institutions is no longer merely educating dental specialists but, these institutions must be able to compete and be recognized globally. The Stovit Award is the biggest awarding event of FKG UNAIR which brings together lecturers, students, and alumni with outstanding FKG.
“The guests were the best members of academic society who have excelled and made FKG proud,” he said.
According to Dr. R. Darmawan, the event was at the same time as a form of respect and appreciation to all elements who have served and performed in FKG UNAIR. Furthermore, according to him, the activity was one of the efforts to foster and develop Human Resources (HR) in FKG UNAIR to make it better.
“There were 54 journals which were published by FKG UNAIR in 2018. The number increased significantly compared to 2015 which was only 9 journals,” he said.
Moreover, 150 proceedings by FKG UNAIR are ready to be published. In the same year, alumni cooperation was able to bring make a record of MURI with Toothbrushing Technique Dance with the most participants, such as 1,705 participants who were FKG UNAIR alumni from the class of 1962 to 2012.
The award was divided into two sessions. First was the award given to students with eight categories, Socially Dedicated Students, Inspiring Students, Scientific, Leadership, Sports, Arts, 2016 Mawapres, and 2017 Mawapres.
Each category given to the best three. Furthermore, awarding was given to seven lecturers with the best publications in 2018, category of Best Publication Award and two teaching assistants with the best publications.
Then, awarding the 2018 Administrative Staff Award category given to departmental administrative staff, in this category the best four staff succeeded in bringing awards. Then six outstanding staff took home the award in the 2018 Stovit Award Achievement Education Staff category.
“It would be wonderful if the hard work we have been doing so far has been appreciated even when the sweat has not dried up,” he said. (*)
