UNAIR NEWS – Ilham Akhsanu Ridlo, S.KM., M.Kes., or known as Ilham and Nuzulul Kusuma Putri, S.KM., M.Kes or Ulul were delegates from Universitas Airlangga Faculty of Public Health (FKM) to take part in the Short Course Health Sciences activity at Coventry University, UK. The activity lasted for 18 days. During the activity, both were given the opportunity to be able to explore National Health Services (NHS) further which would be useful in analyzing health insurance systems in Indonesia.
“We (Ilham and Ulul, ed) can learn about the health care system in the UK and can be used as learning lessons for the development of a health insurance system in Indonesia,” explained Ilham to UNAIR NEWS on Wednesday, November 28.
The program was held by the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti). The aim is to develop lecturer competencies, especially in the field of Health Science. In the program, there are at least four competencies that must be possessed by them after returning from the short course.
They have to be able to understand the basic principles of universal health coverage, to evaluate universal health coverage in Indonesia today as a comparison between the UK and Indonesia, to be able to evaluate and provide recommendations on how to increase national health coverage in Indonesia and to cover deficits and to publish international journals.
They also had the opportunity to visit several health facilities under the NHS such as Waswall Hospital, Birmingham Hospital, and primary health care in Coventry. Both of them studied various forms of community-based social security, namely food banks(foundations affiliated with churches that provide food for homeless ), social transport companies , and social furniture companies.
