UNAIR NEWS – Community Development (COMDEV), which is a community service activity in Asem Jajar, Surabaya, finally was ended on Sunday, 11 November. The activity was carried out for one year managed by BEM of Faculty of Public Health (FKM) of Universitas Airlangga, by Eka Fitria Sari, Head of Committee.
2018 is the first year of community service there. This community service will continue in the next two years in accordance with previous MoU (Memorandum of Understanding).
Eka in COMDEV closing segment expressed her gratitude for community acceptance and teamwork,especially participating in this event.
“Thank you for the whole community in helping COMDEV event. Hopefully there will be a good cooperation because COMDEV activities will be continued in the next two years in accordance with MoU, “she said.
The closing activities was carried out for a full day. It started at 06.00 WIB, morning exercise with the local community and closed at 20.00 WIB.
As a health faculty, the committee also provided free health checks for community. Followed by ecobricks decorating competition. Given that the focus of this year’s cominity service was developing ecobricks and a garbage bank in reducing plastic waste to improve community economy. The assessment in the contest includes teamwork, neatness, and creativity.
At night, the counseling related to trash bank material was held, followed by quiz and winner announcement. In closing ceremony, Eka gave a surprise to committee and local residents by introducing the new Head of COMDEV in following year.
“Given that COMDEV will not only stop this year, then I want to introduce Alifandra Azya as Head of the 2019 COMDEV,” said Eka who was greeted from residents and the committee.
Alifandra Azya or Andra hoped that in the future the community can work well again. In addition, 2017 FKM students hoped that they can continues this event in 2019. (*)
