UNAIR NEWS – The Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Airlangga, held another national short film competition titled Psychology Film Festival (PFF) on Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4. This event is one of a series of Psychology Festival (Psychofest) 2018.
Entering its seventh year, PFF once again provides an opportunity for young Indonesian filmmakers to be creative in presenting mental health iisues through visual audio artwork.
Aulia Regasani Yaswi, as the event coordinator said that 7 th Psychology Film Festival is aimed to introducing and educating the public about issues in the world of psychology through film media.
“Films cannot be underestimated because a lot of people enjoy them. We also want to appreciate the filmmaker works in Indonesia, and also invite our juniors (students, ed) to continue working from an early age, “explained Rere.
She also said that this PFF theme is referred from the major theme Psychofest 2018.
“The theme of PFF is Action in Inclusion, which means when individuals are able to take an approach or action for their environment,” she said.
She hoped that with this kind of event, there will be more works in the future created by the youth. PFF can be one place to provide education that psychological issues are actually very close to everyday life.
There are two types of PFF participant categories, namely general and student categories, with a total of 213 applicants. However, after going through the selection stage, only 25 works were declared to have qualified to advance to the film screening round. Film screenings are divided into six sessions, four sessions are played on the first day, Saturday, November 3 and the next two sessions are played on Sunday November 4.
“This is an example of potential future cooperation, between films and mental health sciences. We need to display more topics of mental health or mental disorders, so that there are additional insights for the public that there are many types of mental disorders around us, “said Margaretha, S.Psi., PGDip.Psych., M. Sc., the lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology who was present as the speaker at the discussion session.
The announcement of the winners was held on Sunday night after a special screening of Ziarah film , by B.W. Putra Negara.
The student category film was won by Ryan Sebastian from Jakarta, entitled The Line of Dragons . While the general category was won by Rivandy Adi Kuswara from Yogyakarta, with Munggah Kaji . (*)
