UNAIR NEWS – The Communication Department of Universitas Airlangga conducted a visiting professor activity. The professor was Prof. Panizza Allmark from Edith Cowan University, Australia. The activity was held on Wednesday, October 17 to Saturday, October 27.
The lecturer and secretary of UNAIR Communication Department, Dr. Liestyaningsih Dwi D, Dra., M.Si, said that while at UNAIR, Prof. Panizza will teach Communication Studies courses at S1, Communication Media at S2 and S3 Social Sciences interested in Media Communication.
“While at UNAIR, Prof. Panizza will assist students and lecturers to write journals, conduct joint research, and teach S1 to S3, ” she said.
Previously, Prof. Panizza had visited the UNAIR Communication Department in 2016. Furthermore, Dr. Lies said that this activity is a form of collaboration between UNAIR Communication Department with Edith Cowan University.
“There is no long-term cooperation, but next year, 2019 we will work together for a full year. The output, the lecturers will write papers and they must be published at Scopus indexed journals, “she explained.
This is important to improve the quality of human resources (HR) of the academic community of the Communication Department.
“Especially the lecturers, so that they have better insight, S1, S2, and S3 students have new insights for the quality of the journal, the quality of the students’ research, because students should have better research quality, especially in terms of understanding the research methodology , “she stated.
Dr. Lies also shared the impression of Prof. Panizza as she was in UNAIR.
“She was very happy due to the friendly and good reception. We really want to give the best, we also accompany her while she is here. We are also happy with Prof. Panizza, she is a low profile person with a vast knowledge, “explained Dr. Lies.
Not only came to visit, Prof. Panizza also had the opportunity to be a speaker at international conference held by the Ministry of Communication on Wednesday, October 24.
Prof. Panizza is the keynote speaker in the 2 nd International Post-Graduate Conference on Media and Communication (IPComp) held at Hotel Novotel Samator, Surabaya. The conference was themed “Challenges and Opportunities in (Indonesia) Future”.
Besides Prof. Panizza, the event was also attended by three other speakers, Prof. Rachmah Ida, M.Comms., Ph. D from Universitas Airlangga, Prof. Deddy Mulyana, MA, Ph.D from Padjajaran University, and Elizabeth L. Enriquez, Ph.D from the University of Philipines. (*)
